Sense-Sational Students - Engaging the Heart and the Mind
About Us
My name is Nicole Hawksley I am a certified K-8 experienced educator in the New Hampshire Seacoast Area. I am an elementary school teacher with  over 20 years experience. I have also had the privilege of homeschooling my own daughter for the past several years.  I enjoy all subject areas but my specialty and advanced training lies in teaching  phonics and reading.  As a parent and educator, it is a joy and privilege to work with young minds. I love teaching and am eager to foster your child with a passion for learning as well. I use a multisensory teaching approach, which is beneficial to all types of learners. I provide my students with creative and meaningful activities that are sure to enhance their educational experience.  I am trained in a variety of methods and programs and will determine which one is best suited for your child's needs. I consider myself  more than a traditional tutor, but rather an  educational therapist. I understand how an individual learns, and my skills go beyond what a typical tutor can do.

My Methods and Training Include:

I use a variety of methods and strategies with my students. I tailor my sessions to meet the learning styles of each student. There is not one correct program for everyone, children all learn differently. Here are some of the programs I use:

Brain Integration Therapy: this approach utilizes exercises that help information cross the mid-line section of the brain.
Lindamood-Bell Programs:
LIPS, Seeing Stars, Visualizing and Verbalizing

Project Read: a multi-sensory approach to language arts
